Khan TED Institute Launches $10,000 AI Degree Backed by Tech Giants
A new online learning institute has launched with a focus on affordable, AI-driven education. The Khan TED Institute, unveiled last month at the TED conference in Vancouver, offers remote undergraduate degrees for just $10,000. Its first programme is a bachelor’s degree in applied AI, designed to prepare students for careers in tech, finance, and consulting. The institute was developed through a partnership with Google, Microsoft, and Accenture. Each company contributes different strengths to the collaboration. Together, they aim to expand access to AI education and create new learning pathways.
Students will engage in live sessions, group projects, and structured teamwork. The programme uses AI-enabled learning tools and competency-based assessments instead of traditional exams. Beyond the US, the partners plan to seek American degree accreditation and grow internationally. The low-cost model targets learners who want flexible, career-focused education. The applied AI degree is the first of several planned programmes under the new institute.
The Khan TED Institute’s inaugural degree costs $10,000 and combines AI tools with real-world projects. Backed by major tech firms, it aims to make higher education more accessible. The partners are now working to expand the model globally and secure US accreditation.
