Hockinson Schools Partner with Otus to Boost Student Learning by 2025

Hockinson School District (HSD) has announced a new partnership with Otus and Discovery Education to improve student learning from the 2025-26 academic year. The collaboration aims to give teachers better tools for tracking progress and supporting pupils more effectively. Around 2,000 students across the district’s elementary, middle, and high schools will benefit from the initiative. HSD chose the Otus platform for its ability to gather academic data from multiple sources, including Mystery Science by Discovery Education. The system will help educators set clear, achievable goals for each student while offering focused instruction. Families will also receive regular updates on their child’s progress through simplified reports.

The district customised the Otus service package to include only the features needed by staff and students. This approach secured a lower annual cost, allowing HSD to allocate more resources to student programmes. The decision comes as the district responds to Washington State’s funding challenges by prioritising academic achievement.

Superintendent Steve Marshall highlighted that Otus will improve how educators support students and visualise progress in one place. Teachers using the platform will also receive dedicated professional development from Otus’ team of learning experts. Discovery Education has expressed pride in helping HSD strengthen data interpretation skills for long-term educational benefits. The new system will roll out in the 2025-26 school year, providing teachers with clearer insights into student performance. Families will gain easier access to progress updates, while the district continues to focus on maximising resources for academic success. The partnership reflects HSD’s commitment to adapting tools that meet the specific needs of its students and staff.
