Osnabrück's youth workshop sparks creativity for anniversary celebrations
A recent workshop day in Osnabrück brought together young people, volunteers, and cultural organisers to shape the city’s anniversary program. The event aimed to highlight youth voices while fostering new ideas for the future. Both participants and organisers described the gathering as a success, filled with creativity and collaboration. The workshop formed part of the 'Beauty of the Future' project, celebrating Osnabrück’s anniversary. Liane Kirchhoff and Katja Lauken from the Theater Pedagogical Workshop (tpw) led a session titled Making Peace (Through) Theater and Improvisation. Attendees explored peace through performance, with one participant later saying the concept had gained a deeper meaning for them.
Elsewhere, Rike Bever from FOKUS worked with young people to develop event ideas for the 2023 Youth Culture Days. Jasmin Osmanović, representing the Department of Culture, emphasised the program’s focus on giving young voices greater visibility. Meanwhile, Stefanie Wahl of the Department for Children, Youth, and Families called the volunteer turnout ‘unique’. Osnabrück’s volunteer initiatives operate across various municipal departments rather than under a single central system. The Theater Pedagogical Workshop (tpw) and FOKUS e.V. both contributed to the anniversary program’s activities. By the end of the day, organisers and attendees alike praised the atmosphere, with one calling it ‘wonderful, full of laughter and joy’.
The anniversary program seeks to create lasting networks and inspire future projects. Young participants left with new skills and event proposals for the Youth Culture Days. Organisers now plan to build on the connections made during the workshop.
