Vladivostok's May 23 events blend family workshops, plant swaps and history

May 23 will bring a mix of cultural and educational events to the city. Families with teens can join a free interactive game at the Chekhov Central Library, while plant lovers gather at the Primorsky Aquarium for the Green Market. A historical lecture will also take place to mark a local milestone. At the Chekhov Central Library, parents and teenagers aged 13 to 17 can take part in A Teen’s Path to Independence and Success. Marina Piskareva, a family systems consultant and career guidance expert, will lead the session. Teens will work on setting personal goals, communicating with parents, and building action plans. Meanwhile, parents will learn to recognise their child’s aspirations, ease unnecessary control, and provide effective support. The event is free, but seating is limited, so registration by phone is required.

The Primorsky Aquarium will host the Green Market, a gathering for houseplant enthusiasts. Visitors can expand their collections, exchange plants, and meet others with similar interests. Alongside the market, workshops for both children and adults will run throughout the day. Later, the Primorsky Regional State Archive will hold a lecture on the history of Vladivostok Customs. The talk, led by Natalia Beliaeva, a history professor at Far Eastern Federal University, marks the 125th anniversary of the institution. Earlier in the day, the Philharmonic will perform *Thumbelina*, a one-hour musical programme featuring international competition laureates.

The day offers activities for different interests, from family workshops to historical discussions. Those attending the teen event must book in advance, while the Green Market and lecture welcome walk-ins. Each event provides a chance to learn, connect, or celebrate local culture.
