Russian Museums Compete to Craft Military-History Dioramas by April 2026

Applications are being accepted until April 25, 2026, in three categories:"Best Urban Museum," "Best Rural Museum," and "Best Museum of a Higher Education Institution." Participants will create military-historical dioramas dedicated to pivotal events—from the founding of the Russian state to the special military operation—linked to the history of their home region.

Taking part in the competition offers a unique opportunity to draw attention to a museum's work, gain recognition at both regional and federal levels, and win cash prizes to further develop and update exhibitions. The contest helps preserve historical memory and foster patriotism among young people, allowing participants to explore the history of their homeland in greater depth and present it to a wide audience.

The competition unfolds in two stages: regional (February–May 2026) and federal (May–June 2026), with the final results announced in July 2026.

Winners of the regional stage in the "Best Urban Museum" and "Best Rural Museum" categories will advance to the federal round. Federal winners in these same categories will receive diplomas, certificates, and cash prizes: 1st place – 500,000 rubles; 2nd place – 300,000 rubles; 3rd place – 200,000 rubles.

Last year, the museum of the Syktyvkar Polytechnic College took third place in the Northwestern Federal District, while the local history museum of Bakur School in Izhema District secured third place at the federal level. Both institutions received funding to support their museum activities.

To participate, applicants must prepare a diorama concept in presentation format, a video documenting its creation, and submit an application to the regional organizing committee "Our Victory" via email at [email protected] by April 25, 2026. The competition regulations are attached.

Supporting museums and fostering patriotism among young people through hands-on historical study is a key focus of the United Russia party's public program and its "Historical Memory" initiative.
