The image shows a group of children sitting on the ground in front of a building with windows and a door. On the left side of the image, there is a board with some text on it placed on a stand. In the background, there are some children standing beside a fence, some chairs, a table covered with a yellow cloth, some plants in pots, a banner with some pictures and text on the wall, and some ceiling lights to a roof. The children appear to be participating in a children's day celebration.

Frankfurt's Colorful Effects Festival Puts Kids' Visions First on June 5

A children’s culture festival called Colorful Effects will take place on Friday, June 5, from 2 to 5 p.m. The event is part of the Let’s Take to the Squares initiative, organised by World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026. It will bring together art, community participation, and the voices of young people in the city. The festival will be held at Lehrplatz (10 Lehrstraße). Its focus is on how children experience Frankfurt and what they imagine for their neighbourhoods. Activities will highlight their ideas and creative visions for the future.

Heike Richter, acting head of the Office for Social Services, will open the event. She sees such projects as essential for a strong democracy and a society prepared for the future. The *Let’s Take to the Squares* initiative itself is led by the Frankfurt Office for Social Services, reinforcing the city’s commitment to youth engagement.

By blending art, culture, and community input, the festival aims to give young people a platform. Their perspectives will shape discussions about the city’s development. The event marks another step in Frankfurt’s broader efforts to involve residents in shaping public spaces.
