Nizhny Novgorod Launches Family Memory Research Competition for 2026
Residents of Nizhny Novgorod can now take part in the All-Russian research competition Family Memory. The event invites participants to explore their family histories and their ties to the nation’s past. Applications and projects will be accepted until September 2026 through the Movement of the First platform. The competition offers two main categories: research and creative projects. In the research category, participants must prepare detailed papers or presentations. They will gather information through interviews with relatives, study family legends, and examine historical documents. The research projects fall into three subcategories: Family Dynasty, Family History During the Great Patriotic War, and Family Genealogy.
The creative project category allows for artistic expression. Participants can explore the same themes—dynasty, wartime history, or genealogy—through various art forms. Whether through visual arts, writing, or multimedia, the focus remains on linking personal stories to broader historical events. Finalists will be announced in October 2026. Those selected will move on to the final round, where winners will be determined. Successful participants will then take part in patriotic tours scheduled for November and December 2026.
The competition aims to deepen understanding of family heritage and its role in national history. Winners will receive recognition and the chance to join organised tours later in the year. All submissions must be completed and uploaded to the Movement of the First platform by the September 2026 deadline.
