Estonian Academy of Arts Celebrates Rising Stars at Tase'26 Festival
The Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) launched its annual graduation festival, Tase’26, on Wednesday. The event showcased emerging talent across various creative fields. Winners of this year’s Young Artist, Young Designer, and Applied Artist scholarships were announced during the ceremony.
At the bachelor’s level, August Joost took home the Young Artist Scholarship for his project The Hollow Men. The Young Designer awards went to Pauline Ööpik for Draw: Draw and Oliver Udeküll for On the Shore of Water and Flow. Alice Kupri received the Young Applied Artist Scholarship for her work Only for Forgetting.
In the master’s category, Liisamari Viik won the Young Artist Scholarship with *320,000 Times*. Anni Ilves earned the Young Designer Scholarship for *The Second Life of Yarn*, while Terje Meisterson secured the Young Applied Artist Scholarship for *Carta Pura*. Eva Maria Põldmäe was also recognised, receiving the Young Artist Criticism Prize for *Studies from Siberia*. The festival also presented the EKA and Part Horizons Residency Award. This year’s recipient, Odie Lap Chun Chow, was honoured for his interdisciplinary projects examining identity and urban environments.
The Tase’26 festival highlighted the work of promising artists, designers, and critics. Their projects will now move forward with support from the scholarships and residencies. The event marked another year of creative achievement at the Estonian Academy of Arts.
