New Villingen Course Helps Expectant Parents Navigate Parenthood Challenges

"Becoming Parents: Balancing Paperwork, Diapers, and Couple Time" is the title of a continuing education (Volkshochschule, or vhs) course for all expectant parents looking to prepare for life with a baby together.

The course begins on Tuesday, April 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at vhs Villingen, Dattenbergstr. 24, and consists of four sessions.

It will be led by Katja Piseddu and Sebastian Schoch in cooperation with the counseling center pro familia.

Split into two parts, the course covers both the bureaucratic aspects and the emotional and practical challenges of starting a family.

In the first section, participants will learn everything they need to know about the administrative requirements that come with having a child. The course explains how to apply for parental allowance, what options are available for structuring parental leave, and what other bureaucratic issues need to be addressed. Beyond that, the focus shifts to the emotional and practical challenges of parenthood. Differing parenting styles, dividing responsibilities within the family and partnership, and adjusting to daily life with a baby can all be sources of stress. Engaging in early conversations and reflecting on how family life should look can strengthen parents and lay the foundation for this exciting new chapter with their child.

The course also provides an opportunity for expectant parents to connect with one another, ask questions, and thoroughly prepare for the changes ahead.
