Special Fund: City Council Rejects All Faction Proposals, Backs Administration's Plan—City Hall Renovation and Fire Station Upgrades for Neustadt and Passendorf
City council greenlights €44M infrastructure upgrades despite opposition
Following the finance committee's lead last week, the city council has rejected all amendment proposals from its factions regarding the special fund. In the end, the administration's plan—covering 40 projects—received 33 votes in favor, 16 against, and 4 abstentions.
The largest single allocation is the renovation of City Hall, with around €33 million earmarked for the project. The overall package aims to bundle and expedite investments in infrastructure, public buildings, and urban development.
Among the rejected proposals were a new crossing of the Saale River between the B800 and Böllberger Weg through the Saale floodplain (submitted by the AfD) and an extension of Europachaussee to Ammendorf (proposed by the CDU).
