Biysk's New Initiative Aims to Revive Youth Engagement Through Science and Sports
The updated program includes military-patriotic games and the development of a festival movement for young people.
The city of Biysk has refreshed its Youth of Biysk Science City initiative, with 2.5 million rubles allocated for 2026.
Program documents outline why special attention to young people is critical today. Key concerns include their withdrawal from real-life social interactions—replaced by virtual life on social media—as well as a sharp decline in interest in creative and scientific pursuits due to limited opportunities for self-realization and talent development.
The initiative features a range of activities: sports competitions, rallies, military-patriotic games, citywide youth festivals and public events, the expansion of youth festival culture, and efforts to promote healthy lifestyles. A dedicated provision also emphasizes the need to inform young people about youth policy issues.
