UAE Launches Groundbreaking AI Governance Master's Programme for Future Leaders
The Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) has launched a new master’s programme aimed at preparing leaders for AI-driven governance. The Master’s in Innovation Management and Artificial Intelligence in Government (MIMAIG) was unveiled at an event featuring expert discussions on innovation and government readiness.
Officials described the programme as a groundbreaking step in equipping professionals to handle rapid technological changes in the public sector.
The launch event included faculty-led sessions and an alumni panel titled The Future-Ready Government: Why Governments Need Innovation Leaders Now. Speakers from organisations like EDGE and the Dubai Health Authority joined discussions on how innovation shapes government preparedness.
Prof. Yousif El-Ghalayini, Acting Dean of Academic Affairs at MBRSG, stressed the importance of reskilling and upskilling to keep pace with global technological shifts. Ali bin Sebaa Al Marri, Executive President of MBRSG, added that the programme meets a pressing demand for agile leadership capable of managing AI transformations in government. MIMAIG combines innovation management, AI governance, public policy, and strategic leadership under a *quintuple helix* model. Students will engage in international field visits to tech hubs, embassies, and global organisations, gaining firsthand exposure to governance and innovation practices. The programme spans 180 credits, with 120 credits from taught modules and a 60-credit dissertation. Learners can choose between full-time or part-time study. Prof. Melodena Stephens highlighted its unprecedented scope, designed to help leaders navigate AI advancements in public administration and policymaking. MIMAIG aligns with the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, supporting the country’s goal of shifting 50 percent of government sectors to agentic AI.
The programme offers a structured path for professionals seeking expertise in AI-driven governance. Its blend of academic study, field exposure, and flexible learning options aims to develop leaders ready for future challenges.
By supporting national AI goals, MIMAIG reinforces the UAE’s commitment to innovation in public sector transformation.
