Around 60 small and medium-sized businesses from Nizhny Novgorod Oblast took part in Supplier Day, focused on the retail sector. The event's potential buyer was the Magnit grocery chain. The gathering was organized by the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Entrepreneurship of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast in partnership with the regional My Business Center, in line with the goals of the federal project "Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises" under the national initiative "An Effective and Competitive Economy."
"The stable operation of any business depends on demand for its products. Entering retail chains provides reliable sales channels and allows for long-term planning. Magnit is a key partner for Nizhny Novgorod producers. Currently, 114 local suppliers work with the company, and by the end of 2025, over 27,000 product lines from regional manufacturers had been delivered to stores. Supplier Day helps expand this collaboration. At the event, Nizhny Novgorod producers held more than 80 negotiations with Magnit's category managers," said Maxim Cherkasov, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Entrepreneurship of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
As part of Supplier Day, B2B negotiations took place, along with consultations from business support infrastructure specialists. Experts informed entrepreneurs about existing state support measures that help prepare products to meet the requirements of major buyers and scale up production.
A showcase of Nizhny Novgorod companies' products was also held, featuring 31 businesses presenting food and beverages, bakery and confectionery goods, meat and dairy products, snacks and health foods, sauces and seasonings, vegetable oils, frozen ready meals, as well as household chemicals, cosmetics, textiles, home goods, and seasonal products.
"Our retail network actively collaborates with Nizhny Novgorod Oblast and is interested in expanding our pool of regional suppliers. We are open to dialogue with local producers of both food and non-food products. Following Supplier Day, we signed a cooperation agreement withKhlebnaya Sleza LLC, and we are reviewing proposals from other companies for further consideration," said Anastasia Alexandrova, Head of External Communications and Government Relations for Magnit's Moscow District.
She added that the company also implements social initiatives in the region. Together with the Opening Horizons Foundation, Magnit runs an employment program for orphans, foster care graduates, and children from disadvantaged families. Participants undergo professional training in stores and can secure their first job with ongoing mentorship support.
"I want to emphasize the exceptional importance of Supplier Day for agricultural producers," said Nikolai Denisov, Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources of Nizhny Novgorod Region. "The event brought together around 40 agribusiness organizations. This is more than just a dialogue platform—it's a direct gateway to the shelves of major retail chains. Thanks to such initiatives, local producers gain direct access to buyers, shorten supply chains, expand sales channels, and strengthen their market positions."
In 2026, Nizhny Novgorod Region has already hosted two Supplier Days—one for the Detsky Mir retail chain and another for the city's Department of Education. A total of 126 small and medium-sized businesses from the region took part. Before the year's end, five more Supplier Days are planned, involving companies from construction, transportation, and the nuclear industry.
