Nizhny Novgorod and Minsk Forge Seven New Cultural Alliances

Nizhny Novgorod and Minsk Forge Seven New Cultural Alliances

Seven new cultural partnerships were formed between Nizhny Novgorod and Minsk during the International Cultural and Educational Festival Path of Friendship. Institutions from both cities signed agreements to strengthen ties in music, education, and heritage preservation.

The deals cover museums, schools, choirs, and libraries, marking a step toward deeper collaboration between Russia and Belarus. The Nizhny Novgorod Museum of Technology and Defense Industry (Park Pobedy) formalised its cooperation with Minsk’s City History Museum through a friendship memorandum. Meanwhile, the A.A. Yezhov Choral School Zavoronok in Nizhny Novgorod established a partnership with Minsk’s Children’s Music School of Arts No. 5.

Nizhny Novgorod’s Children’s School of Arts No. 1 also signed an agreement with Minsk’s L.P. Aleksandrovskaya Children’s Music School of Arts No. 1. Irina Krupnova, director of the Nizhny Novgorod school, praised her Belarusian counterparts for their warmth and professional approach. Larisa Motornina, head of the Maxim Gorky State Museum in Nizhny Novgorod, highlighted plans to expand joint projects with Minsk’s State Museum of Belarusian Literature.

In music, the Nizhny Novgorod Chamber Choir partnered with Minsk’s Belteleradio Company. Their collaboration began immediately with a joint concert. Ivan Stolnikov, the choir’s artistic director, spoke of building lasting bonds through shared performances.

Beyond music, libraries in both cities agreed to develop cultural and educational programmes together. The G.M. Grechko Planetarium in Nizhny Novgorod also secured a long-term cooperation deal with Minsk’s State Palace of Children and Youth. The agreements signed in Minsk will lead to joint concerts, exhibitions, and educational initiatives. Both cities now have a framework for ongoing cultural exchange. Future projects will focus on shared heritage and creative collaboration.
