Lifelong Friends Graduate Together After Years of Shared Dreams and Studies
This weekend, two friends will walk across the stage together at West Chester University’s graduation. Jasmine Worrell and Zayla Dutton have shared years of study, support, and now a shared milestone. Their paths crossed long before university—and their bond has only grown stronger since. Worrell and Dutton first met when Worrell worked at Dutton’s high school. Years later, their connection deepened at West Chester University, where Worrell took on a role in admissions while both pursued their degrees.
Dutton will graduate as a double major in biochemistry and chemistry. She plans to continue her education with a doctorate in inorganic chemistry. Meanwhile, Worrell will earn a degree in interdisciplinary studies, with minors in psychology and women and gender studies. Despite their different academic paths, the pair have supported each other throughout their studies. Their friendship has been a constant, from shared classes to late-night study sessions. After graduation, they will part ways—but the memories of their time together will remain.
The two will receive their diplomas side by side this weekend. Dutton’s focus will shift to her doctoral studies, while Worrell prepares for the next chapter after university. Their shared graduation marks the end of one journey and the start of new ones.
