Krasnodar's war heroes park gets a modern makeover after public vote

A park in Krasnodar dedicated to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War is now undergoing major renovations. Located at the corner of Lenin and Sovetskaya Streets, the 5,000-square-metre space was chosen for upgrades after more than 63,000 local residents voted for it in a 2025 public poll. The project forms part of a wider national scheme to improve green areas across the city. Workers have started laying around 1,600 square metres of new paving slabs throughout the park. The upgrades will also include a stage, decorative fencing, curbs, and 37 benches—two of which will be designed as swings. To improve safety, modern lighting and surveillance cameras will be installed.

A children’s playground will be added, alongside an automatic irrigation system to maintain the green spaces. This renovation follows the second phase of improvements at Border Guards Park in the Gidrostroiteley microdistrict. Once complete, the next project will focus on Turgenev Park in the Festivalny area.

The park in Yelizavetinskaya is the second of three sites scheduled for upgrades in 2026 under the national programme. The renovated park will offer residents new amenities, better safety, and improved accessibility. With upgraded pathways, seating, and recreational areas, the space is set to become a more welcoming public area. Construction is expected to follow the timeline set by the national project’s schedule.
