India's Expo 2025 Pavilion Wins Top Green Award for Sustainable Design

The Bharat Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka has earned the prestigious IGBC Platinum Plaque for Sustainable Interiors. Delivered by Ecofirst Services Limited, the structure stands out for its eco-friendly design and rapid construction. It has also become one of the event’s most popular attractions, ranking among the top five most visited pavilions. The Pavilion was commissioned by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) and the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO). Ecofirst, a subsidiary of Tata Consulting Engineers Limited, took charge of conceptualising, designing, and delivering the project in just 90 days.

Sustainability lies at the heart of the Pavilion’s design. It uses modular, recyclable materials alongside energy-efficient HVAC systems and real-time energy monitoring. The structure aligns with India’s Expo theme, *‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives’* and sits in the *‘Connecting Lives’* zone. Leaders from the project have praised Ecofirst’s work. Shri Pradeep Singh Kharola, CMD of ITPO, highlighted the team’s professionalism and commitment. Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, Member Secretary of IGNCA, commended their innovative approach and strong execution. Amit Sharma, MD & CEO of Tata Consulting Engineers, also expressed pride in contributing to the Pavilion’s success.

The Pavilion’s recognition with the IGBC Platinum Plaque confirms its status as a benchmark for sustainable design. Its popularity at Expo 2025 Osaka further proves its appeal to visitors. The project now serves as a model for future large-scale, eco-conscious developments.
