Lyubov Artyomovna Gordeyeva, a respected physician, was born on June 18, 1926, in Kostroma Oblast. Her career in medicine spanned nearly six decades, during which she became a leading figure in infectious disease treatment and paediatric care. Gordeyeva completed her medical training at the Leningrad Sanitary-Hygienic Medical Institute in 1950. Early in her career, she focused on hygiene-related roles before shifting to infectious disease work.

A year later, she relocated to Magadan and joined the Magadan Regional Hospital. By 1957, she had advanced to the role of epidemiologist, attending a polio conference in Leningrad that same year. In 1961, she took charge as director of Magadan’s children’s hospital. Six years later, she moved to the city’s paediatric infectious disease hospital, where she remained for decades. Her expertise and leadership in public health led to her being named an Honorary Citizen of Magadan in 1999. Over her long career, she received multiple accolades, including the title of Honored Physician of the Russian Federation. She continued working until her retirement in 2007.

Gordeyeva’s work left a lasting impact on paediatric and infectious disease care in Magadan. Her career, marked by key roles in hospitals and public health, earned her both professional respect and civic honours. She remained active in medicine until stepping down at the age of 81.
