Dennis Schröder-Backed Bilingual School Gains Academic Support in Braunschweig

A new bilingual primary school is set to open in Braunschweig this August. The project, backed by NBA player Dennis Schröder, has now gained academic support from TU Braunschweig. The university and Oskar Kämmer School (OKS) have signed a letter of intent to work together on the initiative. The partnership will focus on developing bilingual and cross-curricular teaching methods. TU Braunschweig’s Institutes of German Studies and English and American Studies will lead the initial phase. Their goal is to create an internationally oriented school that emphasises multilingualism and global competence.

The collaboration also aims to bridge theory and practice. TU Braunschweig views this as a chance for practice-oriented research in real educational settings. Over time, the university plans to expand cooperation into other fields, particularly STEM subjects, while introducing joint research and teaching formats. Students at the school will benefit from direct access to university programmes. The partnership will explore innovative approaches to education, including new teaching methods and practical engagement opportunities.

The primary school project is still in its early stages but is scheduled to launch in August. The agreement between TU Braunschweig and OKS will strengthen linguistic education and multilingual learning in the region. The long-term vision includes broader academic involvement and a stronger link between schools and university research.
