CityUHK (Dongguan) celebrates first master's graduates at vibrant Open Day
City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) has celebrated its first cohort of master’s graduates while showcasing its academic strengths at a recent Open Day. The event highlighted the institution’s global reputation, diverse student recruitment and expanding campus facilities. Ranked 63rd worldwide and 7th in Asia, the university continues to attract students from across China and beyond.
The Open Day featured university introductions, programme briefings and student-sharing sessions. Attendees also took part in public lectures and immersive activities designed to showcase academic life. Ms Yin Rongrong, Director of the Admissions Office, noted that the university recruits students from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas.
CityUHK (Dongguan) currently offers five undergraduate programmes: Computer Science, Materials Science and Engineering, Energy Science and Engineering, Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering, and Data Science. Undergraduates receive a graduation certificate and degree from CityUHK (Dongguan), along with a degree certificate from City University of Hong Kong. Professor Julie Juan Li, Vice President (Academic), emphasised that the Dongguan campus inherits the world-class academic strengths of its Hong Kong counterpart. The university has been named the 'World’s Most International University' by *Times Higher Education* for three consecutive years. At the graduation ceremony, Professor Lu Chun, Executive President of CityUHK (Dongguan), praised the 2026 graduates for their strong academic performance, mastery of cutting-edge technology and practical experience gained at leading enterprises. The university’s Phase II campus, set for completion in 2028, will further support research and talent development.
The first master’s graduates have set a high standard for future cohorts. With its expanding facilities and strong global rankings, CityUHK (Dongguan) continues to strengthen its position as a leading institution in Asia. The university remains focused on academic excellence, international collaboration and preparing students for high-demand industries.
