Bacolod's Free 20-Day Skills Training Offers Jobs and Stipends for Marginalized Groups
A new skills training program has launched in Bacolod to help students, job-seekers, and single mothers find stable work. The initiative is part of Mayor Greg Gasataya’s Pag-eskwela to Pagtrabaho (P2P) project, run in partnership with the Aboitiz Foundation. Participants will receive free training in virtual assistance, AI integration, and data annotation over a 20-day period.
The program offers a structured 20-day course, with four-hour daily sessions. Each participant will also receive a P5,000 stipend to support them during training. Upon completion, the Aboitiz Foundation will assist graduates in securing job placements.
One of the participants, Amy Vergara, a single mother from Villamonte, shared her hopes for the program. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity and said she believes Mayor Gasataya’s P2P initiative can help others like her find meaningful employment. The success of the program will be tracked by how many graduates go on to secure steady livelihoods. Organisers aim to build economic resilience by providing education, training, and direct job support to marginalised groups across Bacolod’s barangays.
The training covers in-demand skills like virtual assistance and AI tools, preparing participants for modern job markets. With job placement assistance and financial support, the program seeks to create long-term opportunities for those who need them most. The first batch of graduates will soon enter the workforce, with their progress closely monitored.
