New Schools Open in Almaty Region to Ease Education Shortages

Two new schools have opened in Tuzdybastau and Aigany villages, part of Talgar District in Almaty Region. The facilities aim to ease the local shortage of school places and improve access to education for hundreds of children. Previously, students from these villages had to travel to neighbouring areas for classes. The newly built schools form part of a wider expansion in the district. Four modern schools have recently opened, providing space for several thousand pupils. Each building stands three storeys high, with separate wings for younger and older students.

Both sites include lockers, relaxation and reading areas, and full video surveillance. Specialised rooms cater to diverse needs, from STEM labs and robotics classrooms to inclusive education centres and libraries. Sports halls, assembly spaces, and large cafeterias complete the facilities. Sensory rooms have also been added to support children with special needs. Outside, pedestrian paths and bus stops now serve the schools, making travel safer for students. The developments follow the *Kelechek Mektepteri* project, which plans to open nine more schools by the end of the year. Ground will also be broken on an equal number of new sites during the same period.

The new schools in Tuzdybastau and Aigany eliminate the need for long daily journeys to other villages. With modern equipment and inclusive spaces, they provide improved learning conditions for local children. The project continues, with further openings and construction set to expand education access across the region.
