AI revolutionises education as Duolingo, Pearson and McGraw Hill unveil bold new tools
In an announcement at Duocon 2025, Duolingo's annual global event, the app announced the new integration with popular networking site LinkedIn. Duolingo says the innovation helps "bridge the gap between language skills and opportunities".
"Our goal has always been to make the best education in the world available to everyone. With these updates, we're taking another big step in that direction," explains Luis von Ahn, Co-founder and CEO of Duolingo.
"Whether you're adding your Duolingo Score to your LinkedIn profile or battling a real person in a chess match coached by Oscar, we're showing that education can be useful, credible, and actually fun."
Duocon also highlighted Duolingo's AI-powered Video Call feature which allows users to practise conversations with personalized calls.
The feature is available in nine of the app's most popular courses and offers real-time feedback and post-call reviews.
Duolingo also used the event to announce that its Chess course is now available to an increased number of users across the world. It also said it plans to add player-versus-player capabilities on iOS, allowing players to challenge other learners in real time.
Earlier this year, Duolingo announced it was moving toward an 'AI-first' mode, as its CEO shared that the company will stop working with contractors on any tasks that can now be completed by AI. Sharing an email sent to all staff on LinkedIn, Duolingo's CEO Luis von Ahn said: "Duolingo is going to be AI-first," adding that the company will be gradually stop using contractors "to do work that AI can handle".
