Two Baden-Württemberg schools reach Make It Happen finals with hands-on trade projects
Creative Craft Projects from the Region Reach National Finals
Two schools from Freiburg and Lenzkirch have made it to the final round of the "Make It Happen" competition, placing among Germany's best handwork initiatives.
The decisive voting phase runs until Sunday, April 26, 2026. According to the Freiburg Chamber of Crafts, the Mooswald School in Freiburg and the Franz Josef Faller School in Lenzkirch are among the top 50 projects nationwide, now vying for a spot in the top 10.
In Freiburg, students developed "A Roof Over the Pot"—a collaborative project with a local carpentry workshop to build a shelter for an outdoor firepit. The school reports that pupils were actively involved in every stage, from planning to execution.
Meanwhile, in Lenzkirch, students created a "Green Classroom" in the school garden: a hexagonal wooden structure shaped like a honeycomb. With support from regional craft businesses, the young participants gained hands-on experience and explored different construction techniques.
The competition aims to inspire young people about skilled trades while offering practical insights into various professions. Both projects, the Chamber of Crafts notes, demonstrate how schools and craftsmanship can work together successfully.
