New Art Contest Celebrates 77 Years of the World's First Moose Farm
The Moose Farm of the Pechora-Ilych Nature Reserve has announced a drawing competition, "The Moose—King of the Taiga," timed to coincide with the "New Life for the World's First Moose Farm" project and the 77th anniversary of the Moose Farm's founding on April 22, 1949.
The contest is open to all, with participants divided into three age groups: under 9, 10–14, and 15–18 years old. Organizers have proposed three thematic directions for the artwork: - "The Taiga Giant" (depicting the moose as the emblematic symbol of the reserve's wild nature), - "Moose and Man—A Story of Friendship" (exploring domestication, scientific experiments, and tourism), - "Call of Ancient Legends" (myths and folklore about moose from indigenous peoples).
Entries may be created in any medium—pencil, watercolor, gouache, pastel, oil, or ink—but must be clear, vivid, and free of digital enhancements or filters. Each participant may submit only one original work that has not previously been entered in other competitions.
Submissions will be accepted from April 22 to June 21, 2026. To enter, participants must email their artwork to [email protected], attaching a completed entry form and consent for personal data processing. Judging will take place from June 22 to July 5, with winners announced on July 6.
The jury will award first, second, and third places in each age category, with diplomas and prizes from the organizers. The best entries may be used to decorate the Moose Farm's facilities or featured on the reserve's souvenir merchandise.
