Minsk's Path of Friendship Festival Unites Cultures Through Art and Music
The Path of Friendship International Cultural and Educational Festival is now underway in Minsk. Running from May 14 to 16, the event features the Days of Nizhny Novgorod—a packed programme of cultural, sporting, and educational activities. Teachers from Nizhny Novgorod led a series of workshops during the festival. Ksenia Otdelnova, head of the string department at Children’s Art School No. 14, conducted violin masterclasses. Tatyana Makhnacheva, who oversees children’s music journalism at Music School No. 15, guided sessions on music reporting.
Choral instruction also took centre stage. Svetlana Chesnokova, director of the model choral ensemble at Zhavoronok Children’s Art School, worked with Minsk’s Cantilena choir. Belarusian singers studied compositions by Nizhny Novgorod composers V.N. Kozhukhin and S.I. Smirnov. Other workshops covered Khokhloma painting and choreography. Anna Naletova, director of the Zhavoronok school, described the festival as a landmark for cultural exchange. The event’s broad programme includes patriotic and inclusive activities alongside artistic training.
The Days of Nizhny Novgorod festival has brought together artists, musicians, and educators from both regions. Through workshops and performances, participants are sharing techniques and traditions. The festival continues until May 16 as part of the wider Path of Friendship programme.
