Komi's young scholars shine at Russia's National School Olympiad

Five students from the Republic of Komi have stood out at this year’s Russian National School Olympiad finals. Their achievements span subjects from physics to literature, continuing the region’s strong tradition in academic competitions.

Timur Sadykov, a pupil at Pushkin Gymnasium in Syktyvkar, earned honours in French and social studies. His sharp focus, broad knowledge, and strong memory helped him secure a prize-winner’s place at the Russian State University of Justice.

Maksim Paneev, an eighth-grader at the Physics and Mathematics Boarding Lyceum, competed a year above his level and won a prize in ninth-grade physics. His success highlights the region’s ability to nurture young talent in demanding subjects. Anna Zhora, studying at Ukhta’s Foreign Language Gymnasium, claimed a prize in literature. Meanwhile, Alexander Ignatov from Syktyvkar Technological Lyceum was recognised for his geography skills. Mark Panteleev, a student at Rassokhin Uhta Technical Lyceum, took prizes in both computer science and English. This marks his fourth consecutive year winning the ‘High Test’ Olympiad in English, demonstrating consistent excellence. The Republic of Komi has built a structured system to identify and develop gifted students. Their repeated success at national Olympiads reflects this long-term commitment to education.

The latest results reinforce the Republic of Komi’s reputation for producing top-performing students. With prizes across multiple disciplines, these young competitors have proven their skills on a national stage. Their achievements follow years of targeted support for academic talent in the region.
