Goa Statehood Day Celebrated with Cultural Splendor at Galgotias University

Goa Statehood Day was marked with a vibrant cultural event at Galgotias University. The celebration highlighted the region’s unique heritage through music, performances, and storytelling. Students and guests gathered to explore Goa’s rich history and artistic traditions in an immersive programme.

The event kicked off with a traditional Khordu welcome, a ceremonial gesture rooted in Goan hospitality. This set the tone for an evening filled with performances inspired by both Goan and contemporary themes.

Students from various university clubs took centre stage, presenting dance, theatre, and musical acts. Beyond performing, they played key roles in scripting, editing, and stage coordination. A documentary produced by the students traced Goa’s journey—from early historical references to its eventual statehood. The celebration also featured storytelling sessions and visual art displays, all centred on Goa’s cultural identity. Distinguished guests, including former Goa Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar Srivastava and his wife, attended the event. Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, CEO of Galgotias University, reflected on Goa’s distinct cultural and historical legacy during the occasion.

As the event drew to a close, attendees left with memories of lively performances and a deeper appreciation of Goa’s heritage. The collaborative effort between students and organisers brought the region’s history and artistic traditions to life. The celebration reinforced cultural exchange and learning beyond the classroom.
