Gen Z learns Chinese and Korean while older adults embrace French and Turkish

Language learning trends are shifting as different age groups focus on specific languages for work and travel. Younger learners favour Asian and Middle Eastern languages, while older adults explore European and Turkish options. Meanwhile, digital platforms are improving safety when searching for tutors through better verification and moderation tools. Learners aged 18–24, often called Gen Z, are choosing French, Chinese, Korean, and Turkish to boost their careers. For travel, they prefer Turkish, Chinese, and Korean. Their focus reflects growing global job opportunities in tech, trade, and tourism.

Those between 25 and 34 show rising interest in Armenian for work and Polish for travel. The 35–44 age group leans toward Japanese, Turkish, Arabic, and Chinese for holidays. For professional reasons, they study Hebrew, Italian, Turkish, Armenian, and French. Learners aged 45–54 increasingly pick German, Italian, French, and Armenian for travel. Italian and French remain popular for work in this group. Meanwhile, people over 65 are turning to Turkish for both career and leisure purposes. Digital platforms now use machine learning and stricter moderation to make tutor searches safer. Users are advised to check an instructor's qualifications, read reviews, and discuss teaching styles before booking lessons. In a separate trend, companies in sectors like logistics and retail are using internships to fill staffing gaps faster. Krasnodar Krai has seen internship salaries rise by an average of 18% over the past year, making entry-level roles more attractive.

The demand for language learning varies widely by age, with younger generations targeting career-focused languages and older learners exploring travel options. Digital tools are helping learners find tutors more securely. At the same time, internships are becoming a key way for businesses to address hiring needs, supported by rising wages in some regions.
