Asia's First Cruise Ship Singing Competition Sets Sail Tomorrow
A groundbreaking singing competition is about to hit screens across Asia. Sing! Asia, produced by streaming giant iQIYI, will premiere tomorrow with a unique twist—filming entirely aboard a cruise ship. The show brings together 32 young talents from nine countries, all vying for the top spot under the guidance of global music stars. The competition marks the first of its kind in the region, blending travel and performance. Contestants will perform against the backdrop of iconic Asian destinations, including Shanghai, Okinawa, Ha Long Bay, Singapore, and Klang. The cruise ship setting adds a fresh dynamic to the traditional talent show format.
iQIYI’s vice-president, Chen Di, serves as executive producer, while veteran Hong Kong musician Kubert Leung leads as music director. Their team handpicked 32 singers and groups, all aged between 20 and 25, from China, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Mongolia, and five other Asian nations. Nine acts have already been confirmed for the opening round. Mentoring them are industry heavyweights: Jeff Chang, Jessie J, Jane Zhang, and Azora Chin. Their expertise will shape the contestants’ performances as the competition unfolds.
The show’s innovative approach combines music, travel, and mentorship on an unprecedented scale. With a diverse lineup of contestants and high-profile judges, Sing! Asia aims to redefine entertainment in the region. Viewers can catch the first episode exclusively on iQIYI starting tomorrow.
