Zoo School Neuwied Expands Offerings, Overcomes Transport Challenges
The Zoo School of Zoo Neuwied, a beloved institution for over three decades, has expanded its offerings and facilities. It now provides action days, guided tours, workshops, seminars, and school programs. However, a lack of public transport connection to the zoo presents a challenge for visitors.
The Zoo School has seen a significant increase in capacity with the completion of a new building. This has allowed them to add a new elementary school unit focused on Humboldt penguins to their repertoire. Despite the lack of public transport, 15 bus trips for the 2025/2026 school year have already been booked.
The Lions Club Neuwied - Andernach has stepped in to support, sponsoring trips for the Wilhelm-Hofmann-Schule in Neuwied and the St.-Thomas-Gymnasium in Andernach. They have funded 25 trips in total, using bus companies Zickenheiner and Müller Touristik. However, the rising cost of news transport has made these trips a challenge for many schools.
