Zhenya Khitrova's Post-Meta-Spirits Transforms Everyday Objects Into Mystical Beings

The Arttage Center for Contemporary Art is currently hosting Post-Meta-Spirits, an exhibition by artist Zhenya Khitrova. Running until April 5, 2023, the show reimagines ordinary objects as mystical beings, drawing from Khitrova's belief in their hidden soulful essence. A finissage with a guided tour by the artist will take place on April 4. Khitrova's artistic path began in early childhood, where she explored colour and geometric forms. Her professional career later took shape in Shanghai, where she developed immersive projects blending digital art, AI, and urban culture.

In 2023, she held her solo exhibition Neural Nomad at the Shanghai Minsheng Art Museum. The following year, she collaborated on Pixel Silk Road, an installation at the West Bund Art & Design fair. Her latest project, Shanghai Echoes, launched in 2025 as an AI-responsive public art piece across multiple city districts.

The current exhibition reflects her signature spontaneity and improvisation. As part of the event, Khitrova also led a workshop titled Your Procrastination Cat. Notable visitors, including Anastasia Ostapets and Maria Slepova, have attended the show. The exhibition closes on April 5, with a final guided tour on April 4. Khitrova's work continues to merge technology, urban life, and mystical themes. Her projects in Shanghai remain central to her evolving artistic practice.
