Youngsters turn into super-assistants once more
In the charming town of Neuwied, the children of Class 3a at the State School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing have been making a significant impact with their participation in the Superhero Project. This unique initiative, a collaboration between the child-friendly municipality of Neuwied and the German Red Cross (DRK), aims to provide all elementary school children with the opportunity to become Superheroes.
The Superhero Project, run by the DRK district association Neuwied, is designed to make learning first aid accessible and engaging, especially for children who may have specific needs. For the deaf and hard of hearing students, the project likely employs sign language, visual aids, and interactive methods to ensure understanding and engagement.
During their training, the children of Class 3a have demonstrated their understanding of appropriate behaviour in an emergency, applying bandages, making emergency calls, and even showcasing their knowledge of first aid in a child-friendly manner. Mayor Peter Jung, impressed by their progress, visited the class during their training and thanked the school team, the DRK, and the children for their participation.
The Superhero Project has been a resounding success, with over 2000 children from preschools and elementary schools in Neuwied participating in the courses during the 2024/25 school year. Interested sponsors can contact the German Red Cross Neuwied directly to support this worthwhile cause.
