Young innovators shine at Cyprus' 19th European Researchers' Night

The Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) celebrated young talent at the 19th European Researchers' Night. Held recently, the event recognised 14 students and 11 schools for their achievements in science and creativity. Officials praised their dedication to innovation and problem-solving.

Five competitions formed the heart of the event. Students took part in challenges ranging from artistic creation to scientific exploration. The awards highlighted their skills in critical thinking and digital literacy

The ceremony saw distinguished guests present the prizes. Among them were Mr. Nikodimos Damianou, Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, and Dr. Demetris Skourides, Chief Scientist for Research, Innovation and Technology. Their involvement underscored the event's importance in promoting scientific careers.

Winners were selected across five categories. The Artistic Creation Activity rewarded creative expression, while the Design Thinking Challenge tested problem-solving skills. The E-book Story Competition encouraged digital storytelling, and Science Unfold focused on scientific exploration. A final award, the Best Exhibition Booth, recognised outstanding presentation skills. Organisers stressed the event's role in shaping future innovators. By fostering digital and analytical abilities, they hope to inspire more young people to pursue careers in research. The next European Researchers' Night is already scheduled for September 2026

The awards celebrated students who demonstrated exceptional creativity and scientific thinking. Their achievements reflect the growing interest in innovation among young Cypriots. The event's success sets a strong foundation for future editions in 2026.
