The image shows a painting of a group of people dancing in front of a crowd, with some of them holding objects in their hands. In the background, there is a wooden house, suggesting that this is a scene from the Russian Revolution. The people in the painting are dressed in traditional Russian clothing, and the atmosphere is lively and festive.

Young Artists Celebrate Russia's Ethnic Diversity at Hello, Neighbor! Festival

A new cultural festival, events near me, Hello, Neighbor!, is set to bring together young performers from across Russia's ethnic communities. Organised by the Ministry of National Policy of the Republic of Komi, the event aims to showcase traditions, folklore, and creativity among participants aged 7 to 35. The festival will feature competitions in dance, song, drama, and original performances—all centred on the theme Peoples of Russia.

The festival will unfold in two stages. First, a remote qualifying round will take place, with submissions due by February 8, 2026. Those selected will then advance to the in-person finals on February 13, 2026, at the House of Friendship of the Peoples of the Republic of Komi.

Participants must prepare acts that reflect the customs and heritage of any ethnic group within the Russian Federation. Four categories will be judged: folk dance, folk song, dramatic recitations, and original genre. Every finalist will receive a diploma, while all qualifying-round entrants will be awarded certificates.

Grigory Khatanzeysky, Director of the House of Friendship of the Peoples of Komi, has expressed enthusiasm for the event. He anticipates vibrant, heartfelt performances that celebrate Russia's diverse cultural traditions. The festival's mission is to foster interethnic harmony, preserve cultural heritage, and encourage young talent.

Applications are open now and must be sent via email to [email protected] with the subject line Application for 'Hello, Neighbor!' Festival. For further details, Maria Konstantinovna Romanova, a specialist at the House of Friendship, can be contacted by phone or email.

The Hello, Neighbor! festival will provide a stage for young artists to share their cultural roots. By highlighting traditions through performance, the event seeks to unite communities and promote understanding. Organisers encourage performers from all of Russia's ethnic groups to take part before the February 2026 deadlines.
