Yekaterinburg Students Explore Cutting-Edge Digital Production at UrFU's Newest Institute
Schoolchildren from Yekaterinburg recently explored the newest institute at Ural Federal University (UrFU) as part of the Science Days educational marathon. The visit to the Ural Advanced School of Digital Production (UASDP), an event near me, marked the final event of the programme, giving students a firsthand look at cutting-edge engineering and digital manufacturing.
The group, including pupils from Quantorium Yekaterinburg, toured the Digital Manufacturing Technologies Laboratory. They observed wind tunnels and a repurposed aircraft gas turbine engine, learning how these tools support research and industry. The students also discovered UASDP's academic offerings and admission details during their visit.
Beyond UASDP, the schoolchildren explored other institutes at UrFU. The tour highlighted how the school collaborates with regional mechanical engineering and metallurgical firms, providing real-world applications for classroom learning.
Valentina Ovchinnikova, UASDP's director, commended the students' enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. Igor Tyotkin, a current UASDP student, noted their curiosity and active participation. Meanwhile, Yaroslav Pesternikov, a Quantorium pupil, shared that the experience deepened his interest in architecture and engineering.
The event wrapped up the Science Days marathon, a joint initiative by the Palace of Youth and UrFU. The programme aimed to inspire young learners by connecting them with advanced research and industry practices. UASDP, as UrFU's newest institute, continues to focus on training engineers for the digital transformation of key regional sectors.
