Yakutsk unites geography and culture in the 11th Geographical Dictation

Yakutsk hosted the 11th International Educational Campaign 'Geographical Dictation' on November 30, coinciding with Khomus Day. The event drew 16 participants, including well-known khomus virtuoso Nariana Bochkareva-Renanto, who took the Russian Geographical Society’s test at the Museum and World Khomus Center of Indigenous Peoples. This year’s campaign introduced new features while continuing its tradition of testing geographical knowledge and reasoning.

The 11th edition of the Geographical Dictation featured a 40-question test split into two sections. The first part focused on basic Russian geography, while the second demanded deeper knowledge and logical thinking. For the first time, organisers offered a simplified 20-question version for foreign participants.

The Geographical Dictation continues to expand its reach, offering both in-person and online participation. This year’s event in Yakutsk included a mix of local and international elements, reflecting its growing global interest. Participants now await the results, due on December 21.
