Women's History Month Discussion with Local Kansas City Figures to Take Place at Park University

On March 20, 2024, Park University will host a special event titled "Women's History Month conversation" in the Jenkin and Barbara David Theater inside Alumni Hall on its Parkville Campus, starting at 1 p.m.

The discussion will feature four distinguished women leaders from the Kansas City area: Merideth Rose, Bridget Locke, and Mary Lou Jaramillo. Kay Barnes, Park University's senior director for university engagement and a former mayor of Kansas City, Mo. (1999-2007), will moderate the event.

Merideth Rose is the president and chief executive officer at Cornerstones of Care, a behavioral health agency in Kansas City, Mo. Prior to her current role, she held positions with the Community Services League in Independence, Mo., the Independence School District, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. She also earned a Master of Public Administration degree in project management from Park University in 2008 and a Bachelor of Arts in communication theory and human relations from the same university in 2006.

Bridget Locke, who established BNL Communications, a consulting agency, in 2020, has an impressive background in strategic communications. Prior to her current role at Swope Health, she served as the managing director for KC Mothers in Charge and the director of strategic communications at Park University. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in communication and leadership from Park University (2018) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication and human development from the University of St. Mary, Leavenworth, Kan.

Mary Lou Jaramillo is a commissioner with the Kansas Hispanic and Latino American Affairs Commission. She has a long history of service in the Kansas City community, having worked with the United Way of Greater Kansas City and Donnelly College in Kansas City, Kan., and previously serving in leadership roles at the Mattie Rhodes Center in Kansas City, Mo., and El Centro in Kansas City, Kan. Mary Lou also earned a Master of Public Affairs degree in nonprofit and community services management in 1996 and a Bachelor of Science degree in business in 1992, both from Park University.
