Western Kazakhstan welcomes two new schools under national education project

Two news schools have opened in Western Kazakhstan as part of the Kelechek Mektepteri national project. The facilities aim to ease overcrowding and replace ageing buildings in the region. Local officials have also announced plans for further upgrades across dozens of existing schools.

The first news school in Zatobolsk, Oral, can accommodate 600 students. It includes modern labs, workshops, and fully accessible facilities. The second, in Aksai within Burlinsky District, holds 300 pupils and replaces a crumbling structure built in 1953.

Over the past three years, 29 schools have been constructed across the region. These projects address long-standing issues with dilapidated, overcrowded, and repurposed school buildings. Governor Erzhan Ermaganbetov has overseen the push to improve educational infrastructure. Looking ahead, 86 general education institutions will undergo major repairs between 2025 and 2027. Nariman Turegaliyev, the akim (governor) of West Kazakhstan Region, has pledged to resolve all remaining school infrastructure problems within two years.

The news schools in Zatobolsk and Aksai mark a step toward modernising education in Western Kazakhstan. With repairs planned for 86 more institutions, officials aim to eliminate outdated and inadequate facilities by 2027. The region’s focus remains on expanding capacity and improving learning conditions for students.
