Weld RE-4 Preschool Registration Opens
Weld RE-4 School District is set to offer free, high-quality preschool through Colorado’s Universal Preschool (UPK) program. Starting in the 2026-27 school year, the initiative will provide funded places for all eligible children. Registration is now open across the state for families looking to secure a spot.
The UPK program guarantees at least 15 hours of weekly preschool funding for every child in the year before kindergarten. Those turning four by October 1 qualify for up to 12 hours per week, with extra hours possible for children from low-income households or those facing additional challenges. Families earning up to 100% of the federal poverty level—or up to 265% with qualifying factors like homelessness, multilingualism, or special education needs—may receive extended support.
Five Weld RE-4 elementary schools will host the UPK program. Current district families can directly match with the preschool, while new families can select up to 10 preferred providers during registration. Matching notifications for new applicants will be issued on February 16 and March 16. The UPK program expands access to early education in Weld RE-4, ensuring funded preschool places for all eligible children. With registration open and matching notifications scheduled, families can now plan for the 2026-27 school year.
