Weekly Highlight: Makaylah Kelso, Recognized Crusader
Makaylah Kelso, a student at Holy Cross College, is a young woman with a diverse range of interests and passions. Originally from Meadville, PA, Makaylah now calls Worcester her temporary home.
Makaylah's favourite song is "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King, a timeless classic that never fails to lift her spirits. On campus, she can often be found at the pool tables in Hogan, a favourite spot where she enjoys a friendly game with her friends.
Academically, Makaylah is studying Economics and Political Science. She is an active member of several campus organisations, including the Finance Club, WIB Planning Committee, ASL Club, and HC Launch. Her favourite class taken at Holy Cross was Comparative Religions/Worldview, a course that broadened her understanding and appreciation of different beliefs and cultures.
Outside of academics, Makaylah enjoys a variety of activities. She is a fan of the Boston Red Sox, and a day at the ballpark is always a treat. Small things like getting a call from her sisters or biking through Ernst Trail when she goes home make her day better.
Makaylah's favourite colour is sky blue, and her favourite meal at Kimball is General Tso's Chicken. When it comes to caffeine, she prefers a dark roast coffee from Cool Beans.
When it comes to entertainment, Makaylah enjoys watching "The Office" and the classic film "Back to the Future". In her spare time, she admits to having a guilty pleasure: browsing homes on Zillow.
Looking forward, Makaylah plans to pursue a career in finance and/or real estate after graduation in 2028. She is eager to apply the knowledge and skills she has gained at Holy Cross in the real world.
Makaylah lives by the words of Robert Frost: "I took the road less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." This philosophy is reflected in her choices, from her academic pursuits to her favourite memories at Holy Cross, which include game nights with friends.
In a recent article, it was reported that the father of a Holy Cross student was forced to sell his fifth mansion to pay for tuition increases, and that the prices at The Lobby Shop weren't helping either. However, as of now, there is no available sourced information on Ian Sykes, his involvement with Holy Cross, or his opinions regarding the school.
Despite this, Makaylah remains optimistic about her time at Holy Cross. One thing she would change is having one day of course enrollment, instead of the current two. Regardless, she is excited for what the future holds and looks forward to making the most of her remaining time at Holy Cross.
