Voting for the 2025 Homecoming Prize officially commences for citizens
The Essen Heimat Award 2025, organised by our city portal, is back for its sixth edition. This prestigious award aims to honour innovative and exemplary projects that showcase the outstanding commitment of people in Essen who are dedicated to shaping their home city.
For the first time, citizens can vote to decide who will be among the top three projects. Each participant can only vote once, and voting can be done directly on our website. The results of the jury and the voting will be equally weighted in the final decision.
A total of 68 volunteer projects from across the Essen city area are participating. Project profiles are published at www.our website/buergervoting-heimat-preis. After voting, an expert jury will evaluate the submitted projects.
The top three projects will share a total of 15,000 euros. The first prize for the Heimat Award is 7,000 euros, the second prize is 5,000 euros, and the third prize is 3,000 euros. The prize money of 15,000 euros for the Heimat Award is provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Local Government, Building and Digitalization of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW).
