Volkswagen: Renovation Plans for Glass Factory are Underway - Volkswagen’s Dresden Plant to Become an Infinite Campus by 2026
Volkswagen’s Transparent Factory in Dresden is set for a major transformation. The site, once known for producing luxury sedans and electric cars, will become an Infinite Campus focused on cutting-edge technology. A collaboration between Volkswagen, Saxony state, and TU Dresden will turn the facility into a research hub by 2026.
The factory’s current production of the ID.3 electric car will end in mid-December. After that, the site will shift away from manufacturing and prepare for its new role. Starting in January 2026, it will operate as a vehicle delivery centre before fully transitioning into an Infinite Campus.
The transformation will turn the factory into a centre for advanced technology research. Volkswagen and its partners plan to use the site to develop solutions for future mobility. The project will also secure jobs in the short term while offering support for affected workers.
