Ural State Agrarian University Hosts the Victory Dictation Historical Campaign

The Ural State Agrarian University (UrSAU) has once again served as a venue for the Victory Dictation, an international historical campaign. This is not the first year the university has participated in the large-scale project.

The campaign is primarily organized by United Russia (since 2019), the Russian Historical Society, the Russian Military Historical Society, and the Volunteers of Victory all-Russian public movement.

Support for the event is provided by Rosobrnadzor (including its subordinate organization, the Federal Testing Center, responsible for organizational and technological assistance), Rossotrudnichestvo, Russia's Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Russian Union of Veterans, the Defense Ministry, the Interior Ministry, the National Guard, the Emergencies Ministry, as well as the Presidential Grants Foundation, which funds the initiative.

This year, 100 UrSAU students took part in the campaign, testing their knowledge of key wartime events: pivotal dates of the Great Patriotic War, heroic battles that shaped history, outstanding military commanders and their roles in victory, state awards of the wartime era, and significant milestones in the country's history from 1941 to 1945.

By participating in the Victory Dictation, students demonstrated their historical literacy and paid tribute to those who fought for peace and freedom.

Organizers emphasize that hosting the Victory Dictation at UrSAU represents the university's important contribution to preserving historical memory and fostering civic engagement among young people. They expressed gratitude to students and faculty for their active involvement and invited everyone to join the campaign next year.

Background: Launched in 2019, the Victory Dictation is held in two formats—in-person (at venues across Russia and abroad) and online. The Victory Museum on Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow traditionally serves as the central location.

The campaign's primary goal is to enhance historical literacy, promote patriotism, and assess public knowledge of the Great Patriotic War. In 2026, the event will mark the 130th anniversary of Marshal Georgy Zhukov's birth.

The Victory Dictation is open to participants of all ages, including Russians living abroad. In past years, even cosmonauts aboard the International Space Station have taken part.

Winners of the campaign will receive diplomas and an invitation to the Victory Day Parade on May 9 on Red Square. High-achieving school leavers may earn extra admission points when applying to universities—provided their chosen institution offers this incentive. All participants can obtain a certificate, while volunteers and local organizers will be recognized with letters of appreciation.
