UWL Expands Global Footprint with New Sri Lanka Campus
The University of West London (UWL) is set to expand its global footprint with a new branch campus in Sri Lanka. The institution, renowned for its business, psychology, law, computer science, and biosciences courses, aims to boost the island nation's knowledge economy.
Sri Lanka, currently hosting two Australian university campuses and considering an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus in Kandy, is poised to welcome UWL's third international campus. The new addition follows successful campuses in Ras al Khaimah (UAE) and Athens (Greece).
The decision aligns with Sri Lanka's ambition to become an education hub, attracting international students from countries like India, Pakistan, and Malaysia. UWL's Colombo campus seeks to retain local talent, broaden access to international education, and enhance graduate employability. The private education market in Sri Lanka, valued at over $1.1 billion with over 60,000 annual enrollments, presents a promising opportunity for UWL.
Upon receiving regulatory approvals from both the UK and Sri Lanka, UWL's Colombo campus will commence operations. Initially, it will offer law, computing, and biosciences programs, complementing the existing courses in business administration, psychology, and IT. This expansion underscores UWL's commitment to international education and Sri Lanka's potential as a thriving hub for academic growth.
