Update from the Executive Leadership, March 21, 2016

The Kettering Foundation, a renowned nonprofit research organisation focused on democratic practice and public engagement, is joining forces with the Antonio Nuñez Jimenez Foundation for Nature and Humanity to create environmental forums that foster deliberation and strengthen the democratic process. This collaboration aims to promote environmental sustainability, community engagement, and participatory democracy in addressing ecological and social challenges, particularly in Cuba.

The Kettering Foundation's Executive Director, Judy Braus, is leading this initiative. Scholarship funding is being sought to bring more people to the conference, which is set to take place in Madison, Wisconsin. The event will feature fantastic sessions and is shaping up to be an incredible gathering.

In preparation for the conference, the Kettering Foundation is offering moderator training to equip participants with the skills necessary to facilitate meaningful discussions. The organisation has also launched a new website and educator portal, which users are encouraged to explore. Here, they can sign up for groups, take part in discussions, check out learning opportunities, and upload photos and information to their profiles.

The new platform will be showcasing stories of inspiration and impact between now and the conference. The deadline for submitting a proposal for the Conference and Research Symposium is March 31. An issue guide on climate change is now available online.

Meanwhile, the Antonio Nuñez Jimenez Foundation for Nature and Humanity continues its work in Cuba on sustainable agriculture, environmental education, and geo-historic research. Last month, the Kettering Foundation's author travelled to Cuba as a partner of the Kettering Foundation, attending a conference on Active Citizenship for a Sustainable Economy.

The association is also developing guides on complex environmental issues, training moderators, and launching forums across the country to help people understand trade-offs associated with solutions to environmental problems. The author encourages users to share their inspiring stories and join these discussions to contribute to a more sustainable and democratic future.
