Tomsk Universities Preparing for On-Site Learning Resumption Amidst Mumps Concerns
Hey there! Let's talk about the university scene in Tomsk, Russia. Three renowned institutions - Tomsk State Pedagogical University (TGPU), Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU), and Siberian State Medical University (SibGMMU) - are planning to bring students back to the classroom from May 12th, according to RIA Tomsk.
Originally, SibGMMU students switched to remote learning on April 12th, as a precaution against the spread of mumps. TPU followed suit on April 21st, and TGPU joined them on April 24th, for the same reason. As of April 28th, medical professionals at TPU, SibGMMU, and TGPU had confirmed 31 cases of mumps, with an additional 13 students having suspicion of the disease.
Speaking to RIA Tomsk, a TGPU Press Service representative shared that only one student at TGPU has been diagnosed with mumps. Starting May 12th, on-site learning will be resumed at TGPU.
When reached for comments, a TPU Press Service representative reported that, as of May 6th, there's only one case of mumps among the students. No new cases have been reported since April 28th. The university will also return to on-site learning from May 12th.
Alexander Ratkhin, Prorector for Youth Policy at SibGMMU, confirmed that, as of the current data, there are nine laboratory-confirmed mumps cases among students and staff at the university. No new cases have been detected or confirmed, so far.
According to SibGMMU's Press Service, on-site learning will be resumed for students and interns of all courses starting May 12th. During lectures and seminars, participants must wear masks to maintain a masked regime at clinical bases and hospitals.
In the context of the ongoing pandemic and the concerns surrounding the resurgence of the mumps virus, universities in Tomsk are taking necessary precautions while aiming to provide a safe and conducive learning environment for their students. Be sure to follow the safety guidelines and stay healthy!
Science and health-and-wellness are of paramount importance as Tomsk universities prepare to return to on-site learning amidst mumps concerns. Mental health and education-and-self-development are also vital aspects as students return to a social learning environment, with the need for continued learning about safety protocols to ensure everyone's well-being.
