Türkiye Unveils 2030 Higher Education Road Map for Global Excellence
Türkiye is set to revolutionize its higher education system by 2030 with the launch of the 'Road Map of Turkish Higher Education toward 2030'. This ambitious plan aims to transform universities into global models of excellence, focusing on quality, innovation, digitalization, and international competitiveness.
The road map is structured around four strategic pillars. First, it aims to improve process management and leadership, ensuring quality-focused operations across all institutions. Second, it targets digital transformation and data-based management, equipping universities with modern tools and analytics for informed decision-making.
Third, the plan seeks to enhance national and international reputation and visibility. By 2027, all universities will undergo quality assurance and accreditation, with results published in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR) database. Additionally, Türkiye is strengthening global ties by establishing universities in Baku, Tashkent, and Damascus, promoting cross-border education and influence.
A key component of the reform is the workplace-based practical education model, initially piloted in seven provinces. This model replaces traditional internships with more substantial, real-world professional training. The road map also aims to graduate students with digital competencies, green transformation skills, entrepreneurial abilities, and problem-solving capacities, and for academics to achieve international recognition.
The 'Road Map of Turkish Higher Education toward 2030' is a comprehensive plan to reshape Türkiye's higher education system. With clear indicators, timelines, and actionable steps, the road map ensures transparency and accountability. By 2030, Turkish universities aim to be globally recognized models of excellence, driving economic, societal, and technological value.
