Tragic Murder-Suicide: Doctor and Daughter Found Dead in Brisbane Airbnb
A mother and her young daughter were found dead in a suspected murder-suicide at a luxury Airbnb in Kenmore Hills, Brisbane. The mother, Dr. Tiffany Wilkes, was a highly-regarded anaesthetist who had worked at major Queensland hospitals for 13 years. Her daughter, Clementine, was 8 years old and had been described as a 'girl wonder' and 'mini genius'.
Dr. Wilkes had been ordered to undergo involuntary mental health treatment in hospital in 2023 under the Mental Health Act. Despite this, the Queensland Child Safety Department had not received any reports about concerns for Clementine's safety. CCTV footage showed Dr. Wilkes taking out the bins at the Airbnb property 24 hours before her death. It is unclear where she and her daughter were living, as Dr. Wilkes purchased a townhouse in Norman Park over two years ago but never moved in.
Police are treating the deaths as a murder-suicide and are preparing a report for the Coroner. Neighbors and colleagues have raised concerns about why Clementine wasn't identified as an at-risk child given her mother's mental health struggles. The investigation is ongoing.
