Trace Launches No-Code AR Platform After Adobe Aero’s Exit

Trace, a startup founded by former Magic Leap employees, has launched a no-code AR platform to fill the gap left by discontinued Adobe Aero and Meta Spark AR. The platform, Trace Creator App, is now available for free on iPhone and iPad, with a premium version priced at around $20 per month.

Trace is designed to cater to a wide range of users, from individuals and artists to enterprises. Early corporate adopters include tech giants like T-Mobile, Telefónica, Qualcomm, Lenovo, and Deutsche Telekom. The platform enables users to create and publish interactive AR experiences without requiring technical expertise.

Trace's platform consists of three core components: a mobile app for content creation, a web-based studio for project management, and a viewer for publishing and experiencing AR content. It supports multiple devices, including mobile devices, AR glasses, and headsets. The Trace Creator App allows users to integrate 3D models, videos, text, and custom avatar recordings into real-world environments.

To ease the transition for former Adobe Aero and Meta Spark AR users, Trace is offering three months of free Premium access. The central hub for managing scenes, projects, teams, and assets is the Trace Studio.

Trace, founded by Dr. Anne Lamp during her promotion at the Technische Universität Hamburg, is poised to fill the void left by discontinued AR tools. With its user-friendly, no-code platform, Trace aims to democratize AR creation, making it accessible to a broad audience. The startup's success will depend on its ability to attract and retain users, both individual creators and corporate adopters.
